Arizona, Go F— Yourself!

That would be a class 1 misdemeanor punishable by up to 6 months in jail for me under the new Arizona law that makes it a crime to employ any electronic device (including phones, blogs, Facebook – you name it) and use “obscene, lewd or profane language” with the intent to “terrify, intimidate, threaten, harass, annoy or offend.” Oh, and if there is any question about the intent behind my statement, I most certainly did intend to offend every member of the Arizona legislature that voted for this ridiculous bill.

Yes, cyberbullying is bad – that goes for kids as well as so-called grown ups. But this law just goes way too far, and I have no doubt that it eventually will be struck down as unconstitutional.

In the meantime, however, this blog is off limits for all Arizonans whose delicate sensibilities may be offended by the rancorous discussions on our humble little site. (I don’t want to be the test case).

Thanks, Cato, for your comment that triggered this post.
