President Calvin Coolidge often is credited with saying, “What’s
good for business is good for America.” Whether he came up with that or not, the
saying is nonetheless true at both the national and local level. Thankfully, we have two solid Republican candidates
for the Board of Supervisors, Ralph Buona and Matt Letourneau, who appreciate
the roll that business plays in our society and the need to keep Loudoun County business friendly.
Ralph, the nominee in the Ashburn district, was recently
endorsed by Governor McDonnell for his outsanding efforts in economic development. One specific reason for the endorsement was
his service as chairman of the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce where he stood strong against ridiculous local regulations that would have discouraged entrepreneurship
and job creation. Matt, running in the Dulles
District, has held public policy positions with the US Chamber of Commerce and
the US Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources. He knows well the importance of sound
government policy in ensuring a sound economy.
Both men offer Loudoun desperately needed business expertise that can draw
businesses to Loudoun, diversify the tax base and generate quality jobs that
will drive our economic recovery.
